Ok. There are many times where a steam game has not worked for me. This is what I do:
Close down steam. Delete everything in your steam directory apart from steam.exe and the steamapps folder. Restart your computer. Run steam.exe
It should start re-downloading all of the native steam files, but the games you downloaded will remain on your computer.
Be aware that this deletes all of your steam shortcuts to non-steam games, so you’ll have to go through the same hideously long process of adding them again.
